Your all-new fortnightly GP was out Monday and included exclusive results of a Freedom of Information Act investigation of 186 CCGs which found the number of GPs quitting CCG board posts is rising sharply as fears mount over bureaucracy, rationing and rising workload. It was followed up by the Daily Mirror.
The GP iPad edition was shortlisted as both App of the Year (which we won!) and Digital Magazine of the Year at the Professional Publishers Association (PPA) Digital Awards #PPADigital in central London on Wednesday. Sister site Medeconomics was also shortlisted as Innovation of the Year.
Leeds GP Dr Marwan Al-Dawoud led the medical team based at St James' Park, Newcastle, for the football competition at the London 2012 Olympics (pictured). Read about his work as a sessional GP and as medical officer for the England rugby league team in your next GP dated 30 September.
Our best read was Dr Custodes' Named GPs smack of Dr Finlay and are a surefire votewinner.
Has QOF reached a dead end? asked our latest issue:
Why is the government so fixated on hospitals when general practice is struggling?
@clarercgp 100 ppl killed in a plane/train crash -> action. 1,000s killed on roads unnoticed. Same w hospitals vs primary care.— Peter English (@petermbenglish) September 18, 2013
General practice chief inspector-to-be Professor Steve Field (@ProfSteveField) doesn't start in that job until 30 September but he's already unhappy with the trains:
@ProfSteveField Same on Transpennine Express - steamy windows, overcrowded, delayed - but hey, it's all good British public transport!— Darren Kilroy (@DrDKilroy) September 17, 2013
@DrDKilroy I think we should delete Great and replace with Poor - PWR - Poor Western Trains - public health hazard - nice attendant said ...— Prof Steve Field (@ProfSteveField) September 17, 2013
Last week's #HuntFace banter seems to have gone well:
