Video: Watch Matt Hancock's RCGP conference message in full

Health secretary Matt Hancock told GPs the profession was heading for its biggest transformation in years in a video message to the RCGP conference in Glasgow.

The health secretary told the conference that the 'difficult' target set by his predecessor to increase the GP workforce by 5,000 full-time equivalent GPs would be met.

He reaffirmed the government's commitment to delivering a state-backed GP indemnity scheme and backed general practice as the 'bedrock' of the NHS. Watch his statement in full below:
