Video: UK graduates should have better chance of medical career, says health minister

The government is working hard to hit its 5,000-GP recruitment target, health minister David Mowat has told the RCGP annual conference.

In his speech at the conference in Harrogate on Friday, the minister defended controversial plans set out earlier this week by health secretary Jeremy Hunt to make the UK NHS self-sufficient for doctors.

Mr Mowat also told the conference that sustainability and transformation plans (STPs) that failed to win support from local GPs could be blocked.
