Dr John Canning, chairman of the GPC's contracts and performance subcommittee, explains why the BMA is holding a conference on improving quality in general practice.

GP leaders were gathered at London's BMA House to discuss how the profession should prepare for Care Quality Commission regulation in 2012 and increasing PCT scrutiny.

Dr John Canning, chair of the GPC's Contracts and Performance Subcommittee, told Healthcare Republic's senior reporter Tom Ireland that GPs and LMCs must be able to demonstrate the quality of UK general practice.
