Video: DH adviser stands firm on his 'red-rated' CCG

DH clinical commissioning network lead for England Dr James Kingsland has said his clinical commissioning group (CCG) will stand firm in the face of pressure to merge. Watch the video now.

NHS Wirral Alliance, an eight-practice group covering just 44,000 patients, is under pressure after receiving a negative ‘red’ rating in a risk assessment process that is the first step towards CCG authorisation.

Dr Kingsland spoke to GP magazine about why the group received the rating, and why he still believes it should not be merged or ‘reconfigured’.

Last year Dr Kingsland warned that large consortia could fail to engage GPs.
