Research by NiQuitin reveals seven out of ten non smokers and over half of smokers agree that smoking will officially become a habit Brits love to hate next week. Participants stated that the introduction of the Smoke-Free legislation in July this year will make smoking socially unacceptable.
The research marks a shift in public opinion on a habit once seen as glamorous – over eighty per cent of those questioned are looking forward to their hair and clothes not smelling of smoke when they get home from the pub, and more than seventy per cent feel that their health will improve because they won’t be in smoky environments when they go out. In fact more than seventy per cent of respondents think that smokers are less attractive than non smokers.
Ex smoker Chantel Swarts comments;
“I’m delighted I’ve managed to quit before the Smoke Free Legislation comes into force, as I would hate to have to be the antisocial one of the group who has to go outside to smoke during a night out. Even though I haven’t smoked for over one month now, I’m going to make sure I keep my NiQuitin lozenges with me when I go out, to help me overcome any temptations!”
Nearly half of the smokers questioned revealed that cigarette cravings will spoil an evening out when they are unable to smoke in public places, and they may even be less likely to go the pub when they can’t smoke there.
