Scottish GPs to vote on new contract to split the UK

GPs in Scotland could vote to develop a separate contract from practices in England at this month's Scottish LMCs conference.

The issue is one of the key topics for debate at the meeting in Glasgow on 10 March.

But Scottish LMC representatives will also be asked whether GPs north of the border should be able to commission services for their patients.

Nicola Sturgeon, cabinet secretary for health and wellbeing, will address the conference at the Beardmore Conference Hotel in Clydebank.

Other issues to be debated include whether breastfeeding be promoted over bottle-feeding, and should the NHS in Scotland adopt a fair trade procurement policy.
