Research brief: Silencing sleeping sickness

Eradication of  the parasite that causes sleeping sickness  is a step nearer, says an international team of scientists. Triggering the SLS cell-signalling pathway within the parasite stops it from synthesising a crucial RNA molecule. Drugs that trigger this pathway could be used to eradicate the parasites (www.nature.com/embor/index.html)
