Research brief: No CHD risk from eggs

The dietary cholesterol in eggs has no significant clinical impact on CHD, claim UK investigators. A review of 30 studies conducted over the past 30 years revealed there was no significant difference in cardiovascular disease risk between people who ate less than one egg a day and those who ate more. The researchers suggest that eating eggs could benefit coronary health. By inducing satiety, eggs could boost weight loss, tackling obesity, diabetes and the metabolic syndrome (Nutrition Bulletin 2006; 31: 21-7).
