Research brief: LSD disrupts alcoholism
A single large dose of LSD is an effective cure for alcoholism, research initiated in the 1960s has suggested. Alcoholics who took part in the Saskatchewan trial reported that LSD made them view their alcoholic behaviours differently, prompting participants to quit drinking. Researchers at the University of Alberta, in Canada, followed-up the participants, who said the treatment helped them quit drinking (Social History of Medicine Online).
