Research brief: Antibiotic cures eye lymphoma
Lymphoma of the eye can be cured by the antibiotic doxycycline, an Italian study has found. Researchers treated 27 patients who had ocular adnexal lymphoma, which affects the eyelids and surrounding tissues, with a three-week course of doxycycline therapy. This type of lymphoma is associated with chlamydial infection, but the treatment also caused tumour regression in patients who tested negative for chlamydia.
