From more than 200 applications, the college has chosen 53 GPs and practice managers who are excelling in commissioning to lead the college’s training and support for GP consortia.
The champions will run workshops throughout January and February as well as helping grassroots GP prepare for the White Paper reforms.
RCGP Chair Dr Clare Gerada said: 'We received a fantastic response to the call for leaders to step up to this tangible challenge and become the Centre’s first Clinical Commissioning Champions. It tells us very clearly that our members want to support clinical commissioning – and that we want to get this right for patients, the NHS and for GPs.'
