According to her justgiving fundraising page, Professor Gerada took part in the four-day, 460km Pedal to Paris ride 'because it's a great rest from being chair of the RCGP'.

She wrote that her husband had completed the ride five times, adding: 'Now it's my turn to prove I too can do it.'

Professor Gerada has raised more than £1,100 to date from the ride to Paris.

The RCGP annual conference takes place next month in Harrogate from 3-5 October.

GP magazine will be producing daily editions available at the conference and via our website, and filming and writing about the key events.
