QNI launches homeless health initiative film

A film showing how the Queen's Nursing Institute's (QNI) homeless health initiative is improving care has been launched.

QNI research shows that nurses working with the homeless often feel isolated, under-resourced and unsupported.

The 11-minute film, Reaching Out: Nursing Homeless People, shows Jane Gray, a consultant nurse in Leicester, and Fiona Lerner, a team leader/health visitor in Bradford, at work with homeless patients.

Interviews with both highlight the issues faced by homeless people and the nurses caring for them.

Kate Tansley, who co-ordinates the initiative, said: ‘We hope this film will alert professionals to an important set of free online resources which can help more nurses offer better care to homeless people.'
