Protest over GPs losing APMS bid to private firm

GPs and LMC representatives have expressed anger over the 10-year contract awarded to firm Atos Health instead of GPs.

Patients and practice staff protested outside the St Paul's Way Surgery in Tower Hamlets, after APMS bids by east London GPs Dr Kambiz Boomla and Dr Sam Everington, a DoH adviser on extending practice hours, were rejected by Tower Hamlets PCT. Dr Boomla said: 'It raised the profile of privatisation, which I don't think many are aware of.'
