Practice split by APMS tendering

Derby City PCT has awarded an APMS contract to run a branch surgery to a local practice despite a private provider winning the rest of the practice.

The Hollybrook Medical Centre will run the branch surgery in Sinfin from April. United Health Europe won the APMS contract to run the main Vidya Medical Centre.

The contracts became available because of the retirement of the current GP and were advertised locally and nationally. A total of 10 bids were received from a range of providers.

Derby City PCT would not reveal the identities of the unsuccessful bidders.

The successful applicants are preferred providers. Detailed discussions will now take place before the contracts begin in April. United Health Europe already runs the Normanton Medical Centre in the area.
