Plea for GP trainees not to work extended hours

GP trainees should not work during extended hours, according to the BMA's GP Trainees Subcommittee.

This month’s GPC News says trainees should only work during extended hours through personal choice and must not be coerced.

The contract for GP trainees states that clinical sessions should take place in core hours only, in order to ensure the highest standard of education and training.

The extended hours DES is expected to be published in October.
