PCT invites you to a morning at the theatre

Members of the public are being invited to help North East Essex Primary Care Trust (PCT) plan local health services.

Anyone registered with a GP in Colchester or Tendring is invited to a workshop at the Princes Theatre, Clacton, on Friday 23 March, starting at 9.30am and finishing at approximately 1.30pm.

It is a follow-up to a workshop held at the St Giles Centre, St John’s Green, Colchester, on
3 November last year which was attended by more than 60 people from all over North East Essex.

Dr Paul Zollinger-Read, Chief Executive of North East Essex PCT, who also stills works as a GP, said he was looking forward to meeting members of the public at the “planning local health services” workshop.

“The previous workshop was about developing our vision for local health services and the views, ideas and knowledge of delegates were very impressive and helpful,” he said.

“The next stage is to develop a health plan to achieve the vision. Our public health team has been studying information on the health of the population of Colchester and Tendring that we would like to share. For example, there is a difference of 13 years life expectancy in North East Essex, depending on where you live.

“There are very important issues that we need to debate and we want to involve as many people as possible throughout the planning process so that our plans benefit from a range of views and ideas.”

As well as members of the public, Dr Zollinger-Read has invited representatives from a wide range of organisations to the workshop including: groups representing patients; the voluntary sector; other NHS organisations, such as Essex Rivers Healthcare NHS Trust; local authorities; secondary school pupils; MPs; GPs; service users; libraries; nursing and residential homes; nursing and residential homes; pharmacies; PCT staff; trade unions; youth groups; and universities and colleges of further education.

Lunch will not be provided but there will be refreshments during the event.

* It is essential that anyone wishing to attend the workshop books a place in advance by Monday 12 March at the latest. Please contact Sharon Sawyer at North East Essex PCT by phone on 01206 288563 or by email at sharon.sawyer@neessexpct.nhs.uk
