Patients to book practice appointments online

Patients at 10 Liverpool practices will be able to book appointments online through their own personalised websites.

Liverpool PCT Medical Services, which runs the practices, has commissioned North Mersey Health Informatics Service (HIS) to provide them.

Websites are individually customised for each practice with photographs of the practice and staff to make patients more familiar with their practice and its team.

Anyone who wants to register with a practice can download and complete an application form.

Each practice also has its own patient forum.

Services to be introduced include requests for repeat prescriptions and travel immunisations. In 2010 patients will be able to manage their appointments online.

Graham Bullen, practice manager at Marybone Health Centre, said: ‘Practice websites put patients in the driving seat – giving them access to greater information so they can make better informed decisions.’
