This is ‘a significant milestone’ since the introduction of Choose and Book, said Lord Warner, with 85 per cent of all practices in England now using the system to make their referrals. ‘We are well on the way to 2 million,’ he said.

Latest figures show that over 6,000 practices have made referrals in one week. This figure is rising week on week, but currently represents 28 per cent of NHS referral activity from GP surgery to specialist care.
