Nurses and health visitors feel under most pressure

Community nurses and health visitors feel under more pressure than other NHS staff, an NHS survey has shown.

Over two-thirds of health visitors (69%) feel there is not enough staff in their trust to do their job properly, compared with 45% of NHS staff overall.

More health visitors and district nurses reported that they did not have enough time to do all their work (69% and 58% respectively) than the rest of the NHS (48%).

Health minister Ann Keen said that overall, the survey showed working within the NHS to be a rewarding experience.

‘Today's publication reinforces what many people know to be true about working in the NHS. It is a highly satisfying and rewarding career because ultimately wherever you are in the NHS the job is about helping and benefiting patients. Nine out of 10 staff report their job makes a difference for patients.’
