NMC admits 'much left to achieve' after performance review

The NMC admits it has 'much left to achieve' after a performance review by the Council for Healthcare Regulatory Excellence (CHRE).

Kathy George, NMC chief executive and registrar, said: ‘Whilst we are pleased that the CHRE has acknowledged the significant progress made over the previous 12 months, the NMC must avoid complacency.

‘We have made significant progress across the organisation including a new governance structure, productive relationships with our key professional stakeholders and measurable progress with fitness to practise.

‘However, there is still much to achieve. CHRE expects us to make further improvements over the next year and we will continue to work hard to do so in order to ensure that public protection remains at the heart of everything we do.'
