NHS Confederation response to announcement of Lord Warner's retirement

Following the news earlier this afternoon that Lord Warner will be retiring, Gill Morgan, Chief Executive of the NHS Confederation said:

“Lord Warner has been a steady hand at the tiller on the NHS since his appointment. He has lead some of the most challenging issues on behalf of the Department of Health and the NHS, and has always managed them in a highly professional and amiable way.

“There is clear evidence that the NHS is turning a corner. There are still challenges ahead but with the new framework of pay contracts and an enabling IT system we believe that when people look back they will see Lord Warner as one of the major architects of a 21st Century NHS.

“Lord Warner has always engaged in discussion and debate and has been constructive in his approach. We will miss him.”
