NHS advertising code may apply to GP practices

There should be no cap on spending on advertising NHS services and no monitoring system according to a DoH consultation document.

Proposals would also allow direct comparisons between named health providers and celebrity endorsement of services.  

Such a code would mean private providers could advertise new practices by directly comparing their services with other named providers.  

The DoH has asked for comments whether the code should apply to GP practices.
