News in Brief: Ministers press PCTs for out-of-hours savings

Ministers are demanding that all PCTs draw up action plans to improve GP out-of-hours services after the National Audit Office (NAO) identified £100 million of potential savings.While four out of five people are apparently satisfied with the services, the NAO pointed to duplication of services and poor local tendering as examples of NHS money being spent without any benefit to patients.
