News in brief: Increase in academics in med schools needed

 Urgent action is needed to reverse the continuing decline in the number of academics working in UK medical schools, according to the BMA. Figures from the Medical Schools Council show that the clinical academic workforce fell by 1 per cent to 2,937 in 2006.
