News in brief: Healthcare funding review to be revisited
Sir Derek Wanless (left) is to revisit his 2002 review for the Treasury looking at the funding of healthcare. The former NatWest Group chief executive will look at progress on his funding recommendations which led to the Chancellor’s decision to increase annual NHS funding by 7.4 per cent from 2002/03 to 2007/08. Sir Derek said: ‘This is an ideal time to look back at the past five years and see if the extra money has been spent productively.’
