News in brief: GPs to have more say on PCTs

Clinicians must be in the majority on PCT professional executive committees (PECs), according to DoH guidance issued last week. PECs should also drive practice-based commissioning, including advising and contributing to the overall direction. Health minister Andy Burnham (pictured) said: ‘Today’s guidance will re-establish and reinvigorate PECs, giving clinicians from a multi-professional background a greater say on local NHS decisions.’
