News in brief: DoH to fund social enterprise schemes

The DoH is giving £1 million to clinicians who want to set up social enterprise schemes. The money, announced last week for this financial year, is in addition to the DoH’s White Paper commitment to establish a social enterprise fund from April 2007. Social enterprise schemes are not-for-profit businesses providing health care, such as GP co-ops or even entire health centres.
