News in brief: College seeks debate on severely disabled babies

The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists wants a debate over whether ‘deliberate intervention' to help severely disabled babies die should be legalised.

The college made its comments in a submission to the Nuffield Council on Bioethics, which is looking at the ethics around foetus’s lives. The college said it was not necessarily in favour, but felt it should be debated.
