News in brief: 90% of GPs oppose income cap

Nine out of 10 GPs believe a government-imposed cap on their income would not lead to improved patient services, according to a survey by website OnMedica. It follows reports that health secretary Patricia Hewitt and NHS Employers’ negotiators were considering capping GPs’ profits (GP, 26 January).
