RCGP immunisation lead Dr George Kassianos and two nurses from his practice, Kerry Gunn and Morag Lindsay, administered the flu vaccines at the annual clinic in Westminster.

The event, supported by the DH and the UK Vaccine Industry Group, takes place each year to raise awareness of the need to be vaccinated among constitutents.

Dr Kassianos, a GP in Berkshire, said: ‘Flu can be a pretty nasty and debilitating illness and I would encourage everyone at risk to get their annual flu jab.’

Dr Poulter (Cons, Central Suffolk and North Ipswich) urged vulnerable people at risk of complications to visit their GP to protect themselves against flu.

Chris Skidmore MP (Cons, Kingswood), who hosted the event in Parliament, said: 'Westminster Flu Day is a really important way of highlighting to our constituents the importance of flu vaccination for those over the age of 65 or under the age of 65 but in an at-risk group.'
