Minister pledges to reverse nurse pay losses

Health minister for Wales Edwina Hart has pledged to amend Agenda for Change pay arrangements retrospectively to protect nurses who had their pay cut when the system was introduced.

Ms Hart made the pledge after accepting recommendations in an independent review of Agenda for Change in Wales.

She will also set up an appeal mechanism to enable collective challenges to pay issues where common problems affect large numbers of staff.

Edwina Hart said: ‘I was very concerned during my meetings with staff across Wales about the apparent discrepancies with the introduction of Agenda for Change across Wales. I know this has caused upset to many staff and this is unacceptable.'
