Thousands of GPs, nurses and other healthcare professionals have used MIMS as part of an integrated service within Healthcare Republic. MIMS now has its own site – www.mims.co.uk – and has extended the usability and access.
One of the most important changes is the search engine which has been radically improved with a predictive spelling feature that allows users to find a product by typing only the first few letters of the drug's name.
Users may also extend their search beyond the brand or generic drug name to include results for indications, contraindications, interactions, side effects and warnings. Or if you prefer, browse for a drug by therapeutic area.
Commenting on the new launch, MIMS editor Jenny Gowans said: 'We know that an efficient and intelligent search is vital for the busy healthcare professional. MIMS online provides this facility.
‘The search has been our main focus, but we are also proud of our clinical guideline summaries and patient resources. Any feedback and suggestions for additional content or improvements would be greatly appreciated’.
MIMS online also includes:
- News on drug launches, licence changes and product updates and an archive of new drug reviews.
- Travel tables providing immunisation and malaria prophylaxis advice by country.
- Clinical calculators including cardiac risk, BMI and pregnancy calculator.
- Manufacturers’ contact details and the products they produce.
