Eileen Frame, currently seconded full-time to the partnership office at NHS Borders in her role as chair of the mental health partnership forum, predicts a ‘difficult time' for nurses in the next few years.

She said: ‘As the recession bites and our health service comes under increasing financial pressure, the next few years are going to be a difficult time for nursing teams everywhere.

‘I am looking forward to ensuring that the nursing voice is heard at every level from community health partnerships to health boards and from hospitals through to the Scottish Parliament and Scottish government.'

She takes over from Jane McCready who stepped down after completing her term.
