Man charged with murder of retired GP

A man has been charged with the murder of retired Sheffield GP Dr Colin Shawcross.

Although Dr Shawcross’ body has not been found, police found enough blood at his home on 24 January to suggest he was the victim of a violent attack.

Dr Shawcross retired last year after 30 years at the Firth Park Surgery in Sheffield.

The accused, Andrew Hill, 48, of Woodall, Sheffield appeared at Rotherham magistrates on 27 January. He was remanded in custody and will appear at Sheffield Crown Court on 3 March.
