London practices win contract for services for addicted doctors

A new government-funded occupational health scheme for doctors is to be run by a group of London practices.

The contract for the 'Practitioner Health Programme', which opens in the autumn for physical, mental or addiction problems, has been awarded to the Hurley Group.

The scheme will be led by the RCGP's vice-chairwoman Dr Clare Gerada who has a specialist interest in mental health.

'We will seek to work with patients,' Dr Gerada said.
