London locums invited to take part in appraisal and revalidation pilot

Locum GPs in London have until 1 December 2011 to apply together with their appraisers to take part in a pilot of appraisal and revalidation.

Dr Miller: ‘The pilot is an opportunity for locums in London to do a ‘‘practice run’’ appraisal'

The London Deanery is running the Revalidation Support Team (RST) Locum Pilot, which is part of a wider pilots programme across England, was set up to ensure that proposals for detailed guidance in the NHS Medical Appraisal Guide will be fair to doctors in general.

Participating locums will receive a fee of £100 on top of their normal payment for undergoing appraisal and their appraisers will also get an additional £100.

London GP Dr Linda Miller, who is helping the London Deanery to recruit participants, said: ‘The pilot is an opportunity for locums in London to do a ‘‘practice run’’ appraisal and feed back about the process.’
