LMCs reject call to hire PR team

GPs called on the BMA to employ a professional PR company to help address the negative press that GPs receive.

Proposing the motion, Ayrshire and Arran GP Dr Hal Maxwell, said that the GPC needed to take a proactive, rather than the current reactive, approach to the media to advise the public of the truth about the GP contract.

GPC Scotland chairman Dr Dean Marshall defended the BMA media department.

'The idea that we are not proactive is just wrong,' he said.

The motion calling for a proactive approach by the GPC and the one for a professional PR company were rejected.
