Letters, calls and emails: Withdraw then return to milk to prove colic link

I have long been convinced of the link between colic and cows’ milk allergy (GP, 6 October).  

Symptoms usually start about five days after the change from breastfeeding to bottle feeding.  

A week of hydrolysed protein formula milk followed by standard formula milk again, would establish the diagnosis.  

I even had one infant who developed the typical iris-like lesions of erythema multiforme with formula milk.
