Letters, calls and emails: ‘Patient’s view’ writer is not representative

Dear Editor

Reading the Dilemma about a GP who found herself working until 8pm every night, I was saddened by the lack of sympathy from the ‘patient’s view’ representative, and not for the first time (GP, 20 April).

Thank goodness doctors do not treat patients like this when they come with work-overload problems.

I myself have witnessed a dramatic increase in in-hours work intensity over my 11 years as a GP partner and delegation is not as easy as he suggests.

He makes sweeping statements labelling the doctor as disorganised and her family life as dysfunctional.

I do not feel this patient is typical of most patients I meet.
