Letters, calls and emails: No pay rise? That must mean no rise in work

Dear Editor

I was pleased to see the headline ‘No pay rise for 2007’ (GP, 12 January). Presumably this means no work rise, and I will not have to spend 40 per cent of the extra hours I would have spent knocking out my pipe allowing Gordon Brown to increase politicians’ pay.

Things look better for 2007.
