Letters, calls and emails: Let's all hope Mr Brown can keep his hands off

Dear Editor

Prime minister Tony Blair has been personally involved in remodelling the NHS for so long, but now we are cautiously wondering what changes the new premiership will bring.

We must make it clear to the forthcoming prime minister that enough is enough; no more wastage, drastic experimentation or meddling in the NHS.

Moreover, it is time to trim the mushrooming managers and directors in the primary care organisations and hospitals across the nation and save billions.

The funds could be better used to reduce the entire waiting list to zero.

Let's hope the new prime minister will listen to and grasp the urgings of the profession and the public in his new role very soon.

Dr Hari Nawal, Bedford.
