Letters, calls and emails: The best way to protest against GMC reforms

Dear Editor

The only effective form of protest about the government’s plan to end our profession’s right to regulate itself would be a mass refusal to pay GMC subscriptions (GP, 16 February).

However, because GMC subscriptions are staggered through the year and many of us pay annually, the effectiveness of such a protest is reduced.

I suggest that henceforth we all pay monthly and offer to a co-ordinating body undated letters of protest along with letters to our banks to cancel our subscriptions.
