The company says that the enquiries, which follow its two months of road shows earlier this year, are from different types of practice all over England.
However, chief executive Mark Adams told a meeting at the King's Fund last week: 'We're not going to come into an area unless you want us to be there. There's got to be a cultural fit.
'Virgin believe we should work with GPs, talk about local challenges, look at aspects such as quality and innovations such as telehealth,' he added.
Virgin plans to open 19 new health centres by 2013.
The first, in Taw Hill, Swindon, is due to open next month. Virgin is taking over premises that include 13 consulting rooms and two operating theatres.
