Kent GPs win APMS practice tenders

Kent GPs have won contracts to run five APMS practices across England, including two GP-led health centres.

Medway PCT has awarded the tender for a GP-led health centre in Gillingham to GPs from the Dulwich Medical Centre in south London.

GPs at The College Practice, in Maidstone, were the winners of a tender for two new practices in Chatham and Luton, Bedfordshire. Also, West Kent PCT announced that Fleet Healthcare, a consortium of seven local GP practices, will run the GP-led health centre in Gravesend, in conjunction with the companies GPI and Circle Health.

Kent LMC clerk David Barr said the contracts would ensure that 'GPs retain their place at the forefront of patient care in a primary care setting'.

Another team of local GPs were awarded the contract to run a GP-led health centre in Corby, Nottinghamshire last week.
