Simon Burns: Revealed list of gifts in response to parliamentary question

Health minister Simon Burns revealed the list of gifts in response to a parliamentary question from shadow public health minister Diane Abbott.

Wine, a green silk table runner, jams, a ladies’ ballpoint pen, sweets, books and a Christmas tree decoration also featured in the list of novelties presented to DH staff.

Ms Abbott criticised the gifts, and called for the DH to ‘get some distance from its murky industry and lobbying links’.

She added: ‘While these lobbying gifts and hospitality packages are being lavished on the DH, patients are paying the price for the government’s mismanagement of the NHS.’
