Heroin is more addictive after cannabis use

Exposure to cannabis in adolescence could alter the structure of the brain, making it more vulnerable to addiction, US researchers have claimed.

The study showed that rats exposed to cannabis when young had a heightened sensitivity to heroin as adults. The cannabis was found to have disrupted the animals' endogenous opioid system, which regulates feelings of pleasure and reward.
