Health committee to investigate commissioning

Commissioning and how it fits in with practice-based commissioning (PBC) is to be the subject of the next inquiry by the Health Committee.

It will look at World Class Commissioning and what this initiative reveals about how effective commissioning by PCTs is.

Other areas of investigation will include whether the purchaser/provider split has been as a success and if it is needed, how commissioning fits with Payment by Results and its affect on quality and safety of services.

Organisations and individuals are invited to submit written evidence by 17 September.
