GPs are urged to help with design of knowledge test

GPs must help design knowledge tests rather than complain about their introduction, according to the RCGP.

The college was charged with designing ‘summative and formative’ appraisal for GPs in the DoH’s recent White Paper.

RCGP chairman Professor Mayur Lakhani said that although he understood ‘the anxieties of family doctors and appraisers about the proposed changes to revalidation, it was time for the profession to take the debate forward’.

‘Strong professional leadership is required from GPs.’
